five-stars

We now live in Bozeman, Montana. It’s not a big city like Denver was, so the first thing I wanted to see was how many of these ingredients I could get locally. The answer was most of them. There were a couple of things like sesame oil and oyster sauce that are just too exotic for our little town.

I’ve tried making Chinese food from other cookbooks and failed miserably. The recipes always look easy, but when it came right down to it, I always proved to be inferior to the recipe. That wasn’t the case with this cookbook. Admittedly, we’ve only tried five of the recipes so far, but they’ve all turned out well.

The instructions are easy, which I was hoping for since these are crockpot recipes. They don’t get much easier than this. Crockpot cooking is the best!

The great news is that we now have these amazing recipes that are easy to make at home without having to pay for it to be delivered–though, we don’t really have that here. Though, to be fair, the drive to get the Chinese food, if we dine out, is only eight minutes and that’s in traffic. But that’s not the point. The point is, two semi-experienced cooks (being my husband and I) were able to make Chinese food cheap and easy at home.
